Caravan Insurance Online

Caravan insurance in the UK may contain certain conditions that apply to the change of season.

As the weather changes over time, some caravan owners think that it is just a question of either locking the caravan away or getting it out - and that is all there is to it.

However, responsible owners know that it is typically advisable to undertake some maintenance checks as seasons change, so that their caravan is protected against the worst that the prevailing elements can throw at them.

Not only is that probably common sense and good practice but also caravan insurance UK policies may actually demand it.

Of course, the position is not common across all policies, caravan types and insurance providers. Even so, you may find that some caravan insurance polices will, for example, set out-of-season or not-in-use conditions including:

water and heating systems to be drained down in static caravans - some policies may require that the water is turned off at the mains supply end; in the case of static caravans, there may be special requirements relating to anchoring; with statics again, you may find that the insurance demands that the caravan is located on a secure approved site - even if it does not it may offer discounts if the caravan is so located; if you have a tourer, similarly you may be obliged to park it off-road when not in use or offered discount incentives to do so; external accessories such as awnings must be stored (in fact, that may be a condition at any time of the year if you are away from your caravan).

This is just a sample list - there may be other conditions applicable as you read your policy.

It would be prudent to familiarise yourself with these conditions. Ignoring them may mean that you are missing out on the chance to save yourself some money or, at worst, you may be at risk of invalidating your caravan insurance cover.

So, try to avoid being lulled into a false sense of security by thinking that a change of season just means a change of weather (or maybe not in the UK!).

Think about what it may mean for your overall caravan security and your caravan insurance in the UK.
